The theme at LFMS this year is “In Service to Others.”  PRIDE Stars is a way for all of our Bears to participate in this theme.

Research shows that students who are civically engaged at a young age are likely to remain active members of our democracy as adults. The PRIDE  Stars Program is designed to provide middle school students tangible opportunities to give, help, and serve. The purpose of this optional award program is to recognize students who demonstrate outstanding attendance, citizenship, scholarship, and service to our school and community.

Our PRIDE Stars motto is “Serve with PRIDE, Lead with Confidence, and Inspire Others.” The Kick Off Meeting will be held Tuesday, November 14th during both lunches as well as PRIDE time. All students are welcome! Please contact Mrs. Vollebregt if you have any questions. KDVollebregt@Capousd.org

Also, PRIDE Stars is looking for projects to assist with. If you have a need for volunteer help, please complete a PRIDE Stars Support Request.

Need information on PRIDE Stars? See the live links above, or visit our PRIDE Stars Web Page on Schoolloop. http://lfms.capousd.ca.schoolloop.com/PRIDESTARS

2017-18 Bell Schedule

7th/8th grade students are grouped together more often than 6th/7th grade students are due to courses that 7th/8th grade students may be enrolled in (Math/Electives).

This is the 4th and final week of our Pennies for Patients Drive. Here are some details that you might want to know:

  1. Overall we have raised $2061 dollars and we are hoping for a big last week because we are far behind donations from prior years.
  2. Congratulations to last week’s winning PRIDE Class, Mrs. Heidner! And she was pretty far ahead, folks. Can you catch her this week?
  3. The top donating PRIDE classes overall are Mrs. Heidner, Ms. Moros, Mrs. Jindra, Ms. Whitmore,  Mrs. Hoover, Mr. Evanston, Mrs. Klein, Ms. McDermott, and Mrs. Tita. There is not much of a difference between these classes and many of you are close behind. This is anyone’s race. Who will win?

Thanks for supporting this amazing cause. Please let me know if you need anything.

Sincerely,

Thank you for your continued support of Pennies for Patients. The money donated for week #2 was twice what was donated in week #1! We have two more weeks of collections. Keep up the good work!

Last week’s top donating class was Mrs. Jindra with $142.15. Ms. Moros was close behind with $121.06 and Mrs. Hoover’s class, Mrs. McDermott’s class, and Ms. Whitmore’s classes rounded out the top five.

An online donations page has been created for our school. Please feel free to share with your friends and family to request donations (see link below). We will be checking the site weekly and adding any online donations to the totals.

Thanks again for all of your support for this amazing cause! Please let Mrs. Vollebregt or any of your PAL's know if you have a question.

Students will be bringing home their Elective Forms for Elective Registration for next school year today.  Parents must complete their child's elective registration on their Parent Portal.  Today's presentations are posted on the Guidance website.  There are shortcut links posted below as well.  Elective registration closes on March 2nd and paper registration forms are due back on March 2nd also.

If your child is interested in applying for a Leadership elective (ASB, PAL, Yearbook - 7th and 8th grades; BNN and School Service - 8th grade only), they MUST complete the Leadership application FIRST  and then complete the respective Supplemental application by March 3rd. Students may use the link below for more information regarding these electives but supplemental applications received without the submission of the Leadership application will result in an incomplete application and you will NOT be considered for a place on these leadership teams. BOTH a general Leadership Application and Supplemental Application is required.

Students who obtained tickets to the dance for Jan 20th, your tickets will still be honored at this dance.  If you lost your ticket, we will have a record of it!  Not to worry!

PAL will be selling refreshments at the dance, so you may want to bring small bills!

A copy of the permission slip is attached.

There was a misprint on the permission slips that went home, the theme for this dance is Game Night, not Dancing through the Decades.

School Loop is school-specific, so if you are new to the school, and had an account at a different CUSD school, you will still need to register for an account again through the new school’s website.  The link is on the homepage of the school’s website.  You will need your Student Perm ID Number and an email address to complete this process.

School Loop is a different application to the Parent Portal.  It is available to middle and high school level parents and students only.   Parents are encouraged to use both applications.  Please refer to the Guidance webpage FAQ's for answers related to the difference between Parent Portal and School Loop.

The Parent Portal may be accessed at any time during the school year and parent and student accounts only need to be established once as they rollover with updated student data each year. Don’t have a portal account? Contact the school office for your child to request the information needed to create an account.

The Parent Portal is only accessible to parents of students in the current school year.  Information on obtaining transcripts for graduated students may be found on the CUSD website.

Please direct any additional questions to your school office.
