Peer Mediation

Peer Mediators & the Conflict Mediation Process

Peer Mediators serve their school by helping other students resolve conflict. They work in pairs. Peer Mediators assist disputing students in the peaceful expression and resolution of their conflicts by using a well thought out problem solving process.

The conflict mediation process is VOLUNTARY - no student shall ever be required or forced to see conflict managers to resolve a dispute. the hear of the program is that it is voluntary. Conflict Managers are facilitators, not judges or disciplinarians. They help students express their conflicts and find their own best solution.

Request for Mediation

Students may be referred for a conflict mediation by administration, a teacher, or any other staff member on campus. Students may also request a conflict mediation.

Conflict mediation sessions are mainly held during break or lunch. Once a student or staff member requests a conflict mediation, Mrs. Goddard - the program coordinator - will evaluate the situation and assign the conflict mediation to two Conflict Managers. Call slips will then go out to both disputes for the designated time.
